This recorded piece is from the 'Improvising with Sound and Paint' project we led during March 2022 at Angel Road Infant School, Norwich. The project was led with Gillian Francis and Make Play Connect, with funding from Catton Grove Big Local and Norfolk County Council's Arts Project Fund.

Through the project, we wanted to explore making artwork in response to our Tree & Bell music, as well as exploring percussion and other instruments with the group, and also doing field recordings around the school and outside. The culmination of the project was an installation upstairs at Waterloo Park Pavilion, Norwich, where this tape piece played, and the children's artwork was displayed around a tent, onto which we also invited people visiting to paint new artwork inspired by the music and surroundings.

It was a very joyful project - we also explored improvised conducting with the group, which can be heard in the recorded piece. The piece 'the recurring dream' also came out of the project, from asking the school group for some words to describe a field recording, which we then translated into musical notes and arranged into the piece, which some of you might have heard us perform at our Aroma residency.
